Dr Quail received his medical degree from the University of Witwatersrand in South Africa in 2002. He subsequently completed ENT specialist training at the University of Cape Town and also obtained a Masters of Medicine Degree in Otorhinolaryngology. He continued his training in the UK at the Gartnavel & Southern General Hospital in Glasgow, as well as the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro.
In 2018, Dr Quail completed an observership at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre in New York as part of a Fellowship with the International Federation of Head and Neck Oncologic Societies, and he is a Fellow of both the Australasian and South African College of Surgeons.
Gavin ran a successful private practice in South Africa for six years before moving with his wife and two children to Australia, settling in Queensland in 2021 to work at the Cairns Hospital.
He currently shares his time between his public commitments at Cairns Hospital and private practice with CompleteENT in Cairns.
